Lotus Herbals is a leading brand of herbal cosmetics in India. They offer a huge selection of efficient skin care products. Especially their sunscreens are a big hit with girls with acne-prone skin. They have different ranges in skincare categories that focus on specific skin conditions. This White Glow range aims to lighten and whiten the skin, while Youth Rx targets aging skin. I purchased this Lotus Herbals White Glow Cream because it is a popular and top-selling product on Amazon. I didn’t want to “whiten” my skin, though.

HOW DOES THIS FIT INTO MY DAY?

STEP 1:

A coin’s worth of “White Glow Facial Cleanser” should be applied to your fingertips. Spend a few minutes gently cleansing your neck and face in round strokes. Wash it in cold water.

 2ND STEP:

Now place two or three serum drops on your fingertips. Gently rub the serum in circular motions into the skin.

 STEP 3:

Now use a small amount of “White Glow Gel Cream” to replenish skin cells. Apply all over the face and neck in circular motions to hydrate and give a final finish.

Packaging: I got the 40g one in a glass jar. I love the elegant look of the white frosted glass jar. Additionally, it is encased in a white cardboard box with extensive product details. All of the packagings surely gives off a luxury product vibe. Look at! Although the glass jar is not travel-friendly and I have to wet my fingers in it every time, lately I prefer these eco-friendly containers to plastic tubes. So that’s not a big drawback for me. However, they have a smaller plastic tube if you still want a travel version.

Color and texture: I was disappointed to see its texture. It is not a gel-cream texture. It is creamier but still absorbs quickly. The texture isn’t bad as such, it’s nice, but I wish they would stick to their Gel Crème claim. Because I bought the product thinking it would be Gel Cream. I don’t know why brands make such claims and don’t make them as such. Another product that also disappointed me is Garnier Light Complete Serum Cream (Serum Cream?!?).

Scent: Lotus Herbals White Glow Cream has a subtle floral scent. It smells artificial and not herbal. The smell doesn’t bother me, though. It is mild and dissipates soon after.

Efficacy: Before I get into the Lotus Herbals White Glow Cream performance, I will tell you about my skin condition when I used it. I used this product the last winter (December/January) when my usual summer oily skin was a combination (dry cheeks, oily nose, and normal forehead). I used it once daily for my morning routine even though the packaging says to use it twice daily. Because? Because it’s an SPF product, I don’t want to use it overnight.

My morning skincare routine is usually simple with cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen. After applying the toner, I apply a large drop of Lotus Herbals White Glow Cream all over my face. A big drop because I want it to work as effectively as sunscreen. The cream has a cooling effect when it touches my skin. It spreads and is easily absorbed. It initially has a damp/wet feel that settles in 2-3 minutes. The cream leaves the skin well hydrated without feeling greasy. It doesn’t give instant shine, but it does give you beautiful dewy skin. The gel-cream simply hydrates the skin in addition to providing sun protection. It’s nothing like those drying and mattifying SPF day creams; that’s what I love about this cream.

Product claims to have so many natural equity agents that I am less concerned about. However, regular use of this cream has not brightened or lightened my skin tone. Not sure if it works to remove tan as I wasn’t tan when I used it. It may not work to remove skin dullness, as I didn’t see any brightening effects. My skin was the same as when I started using it. If you’re not expecting major skin changes (like brightening/whitening), I’d consider this a good non-greasy 2-in-1 moisturizer and sunscreen for combination skin. I doubt this cream is suitable for oily skin as it was a bit greasy in summers,

Lotus White Glow cream did not break me. It can break it down if all other products break it down because it has few comedogenic ingredients. The product also contains parabens, a controversial ingredient that I try to avoid. So I wouldn’t buy it again.
