1. Chicken and Veggie Soup
This is an excellent way to get in your veggies, boost your immune system, and get added nutrients that you need when you have a cold. It is also a good detox soup, so if you want to detox your body after your cold, try this soup out. The exact recipe is up to you and your preferences, but it is a good take on a classic chicken soup, without all the noodles. Like many chicken soups, this starts with chicken breast that is already cooked and either shredded or cut into cubes. You can also get a cooked rotisserie chicken and shred that as well. Add in your chicken or vegetable stock, celery, carrots, and onions. You can then add in other veggies like chickpeas, kale or spinach, mushrooms, and bell peppers. For spices, try salt and pepper, herbs, and some turmeric for added immune-boosting power.

2. Coconut Bok Choy Soup
Here is another variation of a simple soup that can help treat your head cold with nutritious ingredients, while also helping to relieve your symptoms. This is a vegetarian soup, but you can of course add in some cooked chicken or turkey for added protein. The soup uses vegetable stock and a good helping of baby bok choy, making sure the bottoms are chopped off before you add it to the pot. Add in some mushrooms, celery, onion, garlic, and kale. Go with turmeric once again for added nutrition, along with some ginger and coconut oil.

3. Healing Pho Soup
If you enjoy eating pho soup, you will love this recipe when you have a cold. You get to enjoy the warm goodness, while also having something delicious and healing for your body. Use vegetable broth as the main liquid for the soup, or you can do your favorite broth from any Asian soup recipe. For the pho soup, you want to have some soba noodles as well, along with green onions, cilantro, and a lime. To spice it up, add some jalapeno, and for a little crunch, add in crushed peanuts as well. Once again, you can turn this into a chicken noodle soup if you like.

Use the Air Fryer For Low-Carb Recipes

April 20, 2019 by Mustafa Rangoonwala Leave a Comment

One of the top benefits to an air fryer is that you can make food that resembles fried food, but doesn’t contain the breading on the outside. This is great not only for general health, but especially for people who are on a low carb diet. If you are on a low carb diet like Atkins or Keto, you might be missing that fried chicken or fish sticks; but you can still make them with the air fryer.

Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks
Mozzarella Sticks
A great low-carb recipe to try with your air fryer is to make mozzarella sticks, something you probably thought would never be an option while following this lifestyle. To prepare mozzarella sticks, you are not going to use any breading for the outside, but grated parmesan. This is hard to do in a deep fryer because the cheese melts quickly off the mozzarella sticks, then drops in the fryer. However, with an air fryer, it gives you more freedom to make these. All you do is cut mozzarella cheese sticks in half, dip them in egg, then roll them around in grated parmesan. You can repeat this twice for a thicker breading, then put them in the air fryer.

Fat to Fit Chick
Crispy Fried Broccoli
If you are looking for ways to get your kids to eat their broccoli, why not make a healthier version of deep fried broccoli? This gives it a nice crispy edge on the outside, making it yummy whether eating it on the side of chicken or having the crispy broccoli with some light ranch dip. As always, preheat your air fryer while preparing the ingredients. You want to have small florets that are soaked in a bowl of water or washed, then drained and dried. Season the broccoli how you want, then while it is still wet, roll it in flour of your choice and drop it in the air fryer basket. It should cook in about 10 minutes. For a low-carb diet, use almond flour.

Healthier Fish Sticks
You may be missing your favorite deep fried fish sticks, but now you can make a much healthier version of them that are also low-carb. You need cod or tilapia filets, along with some pork rinds, seasoning of choice, and mayonnaise. Put some pork rinds in a bag and crush them until they look like bread crumbs. Combine the bread crumbs and seasoning in a bowl, then add mayonnaise to each side of your filet. This allows the pork rinds to stick to them. Place each filets in the bag of crushed pork rinds to coat them, then drop in the basket of the air fryer until cooked through and crispy on the outside.
